Abandoned: Swedish Sanatorium (full of stuff)
Переглядів 9 тис.9 років тому
In July 2015 we went on a roadtrip from Norway to Sweden, mainly to see this impressive, abandoned sanatorium. Left decaying alone in the woods it looked both scary and beautiful at the same time. We had permission to enter the building. Please do not attempt to enter this building without permission.

The documentary about Centralia, "The town that was" I do not own the video. For more info: thetownthatwas.com CNN article: edition.cnn.com/travel/article/pennsylvania-graffiti-highway/index.html Let me know if you have some recent footage from Centralia on UA-cam and I will link it/pin it. Thanks.
He must be single if he had kids no way he would want to stay where the ground is smoking raising a family
This is crazy
As of 2020 only 5 people left. I could not find anything more updated than that. It's 2025 now so who knows?
very sad story, well presented. Thank you for covering that
I live 45 minutes away from there
My x partners town was moved and she found her school records at the tip ( rubbish dump )
How the incompetence of a few people can wipe a town from existence.
Beautiful place and the people...im speechless and very emotional. Love to you all xx
Phenomenally amazing. I did a little rseaerch and the cause of this disturbance og nature possibly due to humans. Coal fires are difficult to put out and nature has to play it's part. The people involved were not very smart or were just ignorant about preservation and substsinability of the earth. Responsible mining should have been their top priority. I read that the cause of this may have been due to someone lighting trash fire in a coal mine pit. Coal mines are NOT meant to burn trash. Good thing about this disastrous event is that provided example of hazardous consequences as a result of misuse of coal mines and set rules and regulations for proper and safe activities of coal mines
I guess that guys a flat- earther.
Why would anyone want their property back when it's burning beneath ur feet? Makes no sense.
Just come across this. It's so sad to see a whole town that once was....gone more or less. If no one lives there now. Do the government look after what's left, like the cemetery's. John did a great job when he lived there. So sad, it breaks my heart 💔 😢😢😢
I've been choosen by the algorithm
Chosen …
Visited a few months ago. There are still a few houses and residents. Found a couple holes in the ground with smoking coming out. And the church is still there.
Imagine having a home that you're slowly burned out of. Having neighbors and a thriving infrastructure, only to watch it all be slowly destroyed. It's absolutely heartbreaking.
I’m from Pennsylvania and I’ve watched tons of videos of this on UA-cam and this is absolutely thee BEST ONE YET.. I was finding things out about this incident and I thought I knew just about all there was to know..GREAT JOB ON THIS❌
Mental illness, not nostalgia.
“There’s no visible danger here…” he said, standing in front of a steaming vent filled with noxious gasses. 47:44 😭 Saddest doc I’ve watched in a long time.
"countless" stores?
This town did not inspire the Silent Hill games created by Team Silent from Konami. The games creators were from and lived in Japan and likely never knew of this small American town. The director of the live action movie claimed it was. The original game was set in 1960's Japan. An interesting town but every youtuber ignorantly repeats what others say even though it is incorrect.
That's what the movie Silent Hill was based on and then the video games yes you are correct.
Sad very sad. These people where just devastated
i vomited down one of the vents in centralia. proud of that
All credit to John for keeping the memories going. Hopefully he's still living there.
he's fighting two problems. the centralia problem, and the problems EVERY town in america faces.
Imagine losing a town because of Reagan era bureaucracy. I wonder what all you will lose this time America with your Trump empire. How many towns. How many pregnant women. How many of your children. This Hell is coming for you all.
This is a heart breaking story
The Gov ignored the Danger your town was facing the same way they did to the town of Love Canal. It’s sad what happened to all the families .
Watching him hang a Christmas decoration from a light pole....in this abandoned town. This is a story about what home means, the importance of home and roots. I found this documentary to be absolutely riveting and powerful. Thank you for sharing this video.
The fog is a metaphore
silent hill isnt based on any real world location
heartbreaking
Typical..race .created destruction, fled, massacred wildlife,fled....left nature to defend for its self...nature restors it self, wildlife returns criminals ......are back. Pretty sick inznt???
Learn. To.. Speak. English
I met a guy who used to live there and he said it was a beautiful place till the fire he started to cry and said it was a waste of it was up to me I would have I 6 inch pumps running from the river to pump water around the clock
I like how the guy is saying there's no danger living here, we can rebuild! While there's literally smoke coming out of the ground behind him
If you feel bad for these people who lost their homes and town is no longer recognizable you'll cry when you hear about Lake Lanier 🤷
hello from 2024
100% FACTUALLY UNTRUE - SILENT HILL IS NOT BASED ON THIS PLACE, IT IS BASED IN MAINE! SCREW YOU FOR THE DISINFORMATION!
Caps lock is on the left.
We know it can be stopped. That's already been proposed by military authorities. It hasn't been contained or stopped because it's "cheaper" to move the people? All the while losing profits on coal by just letting it burn for 40, yes, FORTY YEARS? What's the goal here? Who's agenda is this?!
Limitable? I think he meant limitless. I think what he meant to say was, "Ways to die in a coal mine are limitless."
What is the reason to lock gates on a cemetery? I find peace at the cemetery anytime of day or night.
I'm from Tamaqua. Once trains and ships went to diesel coal was over.
A negative view of the bouruogh? It's a negative view of the intelligence of humanity, greed, and ignorance.
USA’s FIRST slaves … children stolen from Ireland to work the mines …no wonder it’s still burning … crimes against children
The Roman Catholics STOLE children from Ireland, claiming they would be given to loving families .. they were SLAVES ..sent to Canada and the US A secret they rather you didn’t hear about … instead you hear about black slaves…which came much later…guess because they were running out of Irish children
Remember black wall street Tulsa??
Good ole Reagan. Bust up the unions; ignore AIDS; ignore a literally burning town. What a POS.

I almost didn't recognize John in the glasses and thought he was another resident. Something about him looks different there. You can kinda tell all the footage that he appeared in wearing the plaid shirt/glasses/cap was filmed at a different (maybe leter?) time than the footage of him showing us around at the cemetary. I don't know, he had a different energy then, seemed more hopeful, even his voice was lighter, and there was a twinkle in his eyes. Then when he was talking about his morning routine and visiting the memorial day ceremony, his voice was different, his eyes were obscured by those glasses, we didn't see him interact or talk with anybody. He struck me as a lonesome man, if not a little depressed. Living such a lonely life in such an isolated and dying place, even if you love it dearly, must take a toll on one's mental health eventually. Wish him all the best.
